Synopsis

Returning to his apartment following his battle against Carrion,
Peter is surprised to find that his friends have come and fixed the
place up in his absence. When Glory comes by to give him another plant,
Peter has to act quick to hide his Spider-Man costume. That night, a
security guard patrolling ESU’s administrative wing is attacked by a
giant lizard.

The next day when Peter shows up for school he ends up literally
running into his new professor Morris Sloan and his fellow teachers
assistant Marcy Kane. Morris and Kane are less than impressed with the
first impressions that Parker makes. When Peter is showing Marcy around
the campus they notice a bright flash of light from Curt Connor’s lab
and find him knocked out by his Enervator device. Peter notes that
Connors has a small iguana in a cage in his lab.

Later, when Connors takes a class of students to the Bronx Zoo,
Connors (Who has brought the lizard along with him) begins to act
strange and leaves the students. Peter, suspicious that Connors may be
turning into the Lizard once more, follows after him but is barred from
entering the Zoo’s house of darkness. Changing into Spider-Man, Peter
gets into the house, where he is attacked by a giant lizard. However,
when Peter gets a closer look at the monster it’s not the Lizard at all,
but a new reptile called the Iguana who has the unconscious Curt
Connors at his feet.

This story is continued next issue…

  • Galactus’ Bathosphere Spacecraft

Synopsis

Terrax wreaks havoc on Manhattan, terrorizing the populace by
destroying the very ground they walk on. The Fantastic Four do their
best to protect the citizenry before turning their attention to Terrax;
but before the battle can get started, Galactus intervenes, chiding his
herald for abusing his powers. As the four plus the two aliens reach the
Baxter Building, Sue collapses. Reed rushes his now geriatric wife to a
stasis chamber in the hope that he can stabilize her condition for long
enough to find a cure for the Skrulls’ metabolic booster, and agonises
over the fact that in arranging Galactus’ aid against the Sphinx, he may
just have doomed the whole of humanity. HERBIE has used Reed’s
instruments to track the Sphinx to Egypt, though this is of some concern
to Reed who didn’t programme the robot for ‘independent thought.’
Terrax is dispatched to Egypt immediately and the three remaining FF
members prepare to follow with Galactus, unaware that back in the Baxter
Building the Skrull attacker is stealing Earth’s defense plans with the
aim of smoothing the way for a Skrull invasion of Earth. The Sphinx
meanwhile uses his vastly augmented powers to recreate the physical
glory of his ancient Egyptian homeland prior to obliterating the world
that has been his prison for centuries. Terrax arrives and attacks the
Sphinx, but is easily beaten and about to be ground beneath the Sphinx’s
heel when Galactus arrives. As the two colossal aliens prepare for
final battle, Reed works feverishly aboard Galactus’ ship trying to
construct a means of subduing the Devourer once the battle is over.
Unfortunately Terrax has overheard everything, and now promises the
weakened FF they will face imminent death at his hands.

Synopsis

Captain America, Marvel Man, and Vamp take a tour guide to Alcatraz.
Corporation agents abduct Bruce Banner and his friend, Fred Sloan, and
take them to their HQ beneath Alcatraz. Cap, Marvel Man, and Vamp
infiltrate the base, but Marvel Man’s eagerness gives away their element
of surprise. They storm the bunker to find Falcon chained to sea gates.
Corporation manager Curtiss Jackson explains that Falcon and Banner are
bait for Falcon’s nephew, Jim Wilson, a former associate.

Notes

  • Eugene Stivak’s name and middle initial “K.” are revealed this issue. It is speculative that the “K.” stands for his commonly called moniker “Kligger”.
