da sempre il sogno americano offre una gamma di possibilità sterminate ed inimmaginabili per riuscire ad affermarsi e sfondare nella vita, infatti negli Stati Uniti chi non ha voglia di faticare può scegliere tra tre alternative: fare il pornodivo, la rockstar, oppure il super-eroe.
non particolarmente dotato per quel che riguardava le dimensioni dell’ attrezzo nè per le sue prestazioni endurance, e soprattutto essendo irrimediabilmente e scandalosamente stonato, Steve Rogers optò per la terza soluzione, e si dedicò all’ attività di buffone mascherato, indossando un bel costume tutto a stelle e strisce proprio come la bandiera della Bolivia
non essendo mai stato un modello di continuità e assiduità , cominciò però ben presto a prendersi delle lunghe pause di riposo e a rimanere spesso e volentieri a casa in mutua adducendo le patologie più disparate e insolite grazie a certificati medici compiacenti, mentre in realtà non aveva nulla e stava benissimo, negli anni del dopoguerra marcò visita addirittura per circa 15 anni consecutivi, finchè Stan Lee non lo trovò indecorosamente ubriaco in un bar del bronx nell’ orario della visita fiscale, e lo precettò costringendolo a tornare al lavoro. ma il lupo, si sa, perde il pelo ma non il vizio, e così anche ultimamente ha tirato indietro le sue chiappettine incartapecorite facendo finta di essere morto, gli hanno anche fatto il funerale, ma tanto non ci crede nessuno, si tratta invece certamente di una raffinata strategia di tanatosi mimetica, cui ricorrono anche molti animali come l’ opossum, il cinghiale, l’ insetto foglia o il serpente muso di porcello, insomma è tutta una vile e diabolica scusa per non fare un bel nulla
nelle edicole italiane il n.1 di CAP uscì il 23 Aprile 1973, ovvero alla immediata vigilia della austerity, e già questa piccola ma non trascurabile coincidenza avrebbe dovuto far toccare le palle a qualcuno all’ interno della Corno. infatti anche qui da noi svernò parecchi anni da vero e proprio mangiapane a tradimento, stipendiato senza fare un cacchio, finchè non ha provveduto Brunetta a sistemarlo con il suo provvidenziale ed inesorabile decreto anti-fannulloni

Stanco, deluso e disgustato dal mestiere di Capitan America troppo avaro di soddisfazioni sia professionali che economiche, nell’ episodio principale di questo albo Steve Rogers cambia casacca e si trasforma nell’ errante ed erroneo Nomad cominciando ad andarsene in giro a fare zingarate , fregandosene della strisciante squadraccia dei Serpenti che trama velenosamente nell’ ombra
contiene : LUKE CAGE (finalmente POWERMAN) che in questo numero si reca al circo (naturalmente in quello criminoso e deviante di Ringmaster) ad ammirare altri luridi fenomeni da baraccone come lui, tra i quali spiccano l’ appena sfornato GOLIA NERO / BLACK GOLIATH (in verità un po’ troppo bruciacchiato) e la ubiqua Principessa Pitone presente anche se in maniera quasi irrilevante e abbastanza ininfluente sia in questa storia che in quella di Cap

Synopsis
Steve Rogers informs Sharon Carter that his is resuming his
crime-fighting career. He travels to Sharon’s parents home in Virginia
and creates a new costume, complete with cape, and dons himself the
Nomad. Later, he encounters the Serpent Squad kidnapping the head of
Roxxon Oil in a Washington D.C. theater. The Nomad was close to
defeating the gang, until he trips over his cape, allowing the squad to
escape. The Serpent Squad is revealed to allied with Warlord Krang and the Serpent Crown of Lemuira.
Notes
- The NYPD Commisioner has not been seen in this title since Captain America 159 (in Italy in CAPC #71). Steve Rogers officially quits the NY Police Department. However, he returns briefly as a policeman in Captain America 232 (in Italy in SETTURC # 31/32).
- Steve Rogers’ new identity The Nomad was suggested by Martha Dukeshire. Dukeshire was writer’s Steve Englehart’s girlfriend at the time.
- Madame Hydra kills Jordan Dixon in this issue and assumes his costumed identity as the Viper. She also defeats Cobra and assumes his leadership role in the Serpent Squad.

Synopsis
While stopping to see a circus in California on their search for find
Claire Temple, Luke Cage and D.W. Griffith witness as one of the
trapeze artists is about to fall. Luke saves him, and it turns out to be
one of the Great Gambonnos of the Circus of Crime. While wandering the
circus grounds, Luke sees Claire and confronts her. She tells him that
she is here to see her ex-husband. She explains that her ex is Bill
Foster, who she meet, fell in love with, and married in university and
that after their marriage Bill became involved with the Avengers, and
eventually became the costumed super-hero known as Black Goliath.
At that moment, Black Goliath (who has been forced to be a member
of the Circus of Crime) appears and attacks Luke in a fit of jealousy.
Their fight is cut short however when both are immobilized by the Circus
of Crime and put on the hypnotic spell of the Ringmaster.

Synopsis
A man walks out of a bar and sees a beautiful redhead sitting in a
convertible waiting for someone. He hits on her. She tells him that she
is waiting for an older wealthy man and asks him to leave but he refuses
and gets in the car. She says ‘Very well’ and careens off. He becomes
frightened and tells her to slow down and she does not. When he glances
over at her, he screams, for he sees a skeleton that tells him he has
stolen a blind date with Death as the car heads straight for the side of
a mountain.
