Synopsis
Thor arrives at Avengers Mansion to see Captain America, Vision,
Scarlet Witch, and the Beast — seemingly slain — being put into
ambulances. Entering the Mansion he finds Iron Man, the Black Panther
and Wonder Man, who explain to the Thunder God of Ultron’s attack and
apparent murdering of their comrades.
Elsewhere in the city, Ant-Man revives, and still not remembering
anything after the first formation of the Avengers, is tricked by
Ultron into thinking the Avengers he battled were impostors who put the
Wasp near death, and the only way to save her is to transfer her mind
into a robotic body. Unknown to Ant-Man he would, in reality, only be
transferring the Wasp’s life force into the robot body effectively
killing Jan in order to give life to the robot.
While out west, Hawkeye leaves Two-Gun Kid to take message after a
poker game. When the Avengers attempt to call him and Hawkeye into
action by telephone, Two-Gun — unaware of what a telephone really is —
shoots the device to bits to end it’s “annoying ringing”.
With no other options, the Avengers begin trying to find trace of
the Wasp and Ant-Man, and send Black Panther and Iron Man out to try
and find them to no avail. As Jan’s life flows into the robot, she calls
out to Hank to save her, however Ant-Man cannot hear her over the
machinery. Ultron almost blows his cover when he nearly loses his temper
at Ant-Man for ordering him around.
The Avengers eventually learn the location of Ultron, at a Stark
International plant, when a group of ants would appear and spell it out
of for them. Rushing to the location, the remaining Avengers track down
Ultron and attack him out front. After they take down Ant-Man they
realize that the only way to stop the device that is killing the Wasp is
with a complex control code. Knowing that only Ultron has the code,
Iron Man threatens to destroy his mechanical bride and Ultron is forced
to surrender the code. The Avengers manage to stop the process before
it’s too late, however not without allowing Ultron to escape.
To make matters worse, Ant-Man still is in his delusional state.
When the Avengers thank Jan for calling the ants to tell them of her
location, she tells them that Ultron removed her collar that allows her
to contact ants, leaving the Avengers to wonder if Ultron’s robot bride
may have called out for help on Jan’s behalf.
Notes
- Wonder Man’s costume, just given to him in last issue is destroyed. He will go without a costume for years donning a safari jacket and his trademark sun glasses.
- Wonder Man also becomes fixated on the concept of dying when this possibility is mentioned this issue by Thor. For months, he will become tentative in battle until he conquers this phobia in Avengers #177 (in Italy in THC # 238).

Veda. Captain America and Iron Man go to the sub dock and board the Sub

discovered his frozen body in the waters off Newfoundland. Captain
America then travels to Newfoundland where he hopes to learn more about
his past. While walking around a small town, Steve sees uniformed men
acting strangely. As Captain America, he chases them through tunnels
under the docks, quickly defeating them. Looking around, Captain America
finds himself in a laboratory, where he’s approached by “General” Lyle
Dekker, who shows Captain America his giant Ameridroid.
Notes
- This issue shows that Captain America
disappeared off the coasts of Newfoundland in 1945. However, this
appears to be ignored in Captain America Volume 5, 2008 (la serie di Brubaker in 50 episodi pubblicata su THP tra i numeri 76 e 131).
- This issue reveals that the effects of the Viper’s serum on Captain America in Captain America #157 (in Italy in CAPC # 69) have worn off. As a result, he no longer has “super strength”.
- The agent of the Corporation again claims that Agent “R” was
her mother. She also states that Agent “R” worked in espionage 10 years
after World War II. Recent revelations from Captain America: The 1940’s Newspaper Strip Vol 1 (serie pubblicata parzialmente in Italia sui numeri di CAPP dal 9 al 12) reveal that Betsy Ross was Agent “R”.

Synopsis
With Emperor D’Ken threatening to destroy the universe while
trying to utilize the power of the M’Kraan Crystal, the X-Men and the
Starjammers compare notes and come to the conclusion that when the
specific stars come into alignment the crystal will become available to
D’Ken to access. While on Earth, Peter Corbeau connects with President
Carter, the Avengers and the Fantastic Four and tells them some grim
news: some strange force is threatening to destroy the universe. Most
effected by this is the Wasp, who feels helpless when faced with a
crisis that even Earth’s mightiest heroes cannot stop.
Back on the M’Kraan world, the X-Men approach the crystal and are
confronted by it’s defender a miniature android named Jahf. Jahf warns
them that he will defend the crystal to his death, and if he is
destroyed a being twice as powerful as he would appear to defend the
crystal next. Wolverine mocks the small android and finds himself
knocked high into the atmosphere and is saved by the quick thinking of
the Starjammer’s robot Waldo who teleports Wolverine aboard the ship.
Soon Jahf is upon the X-Men and the Starjammers, easily thrashing them

pool their abilities to fight the creature. Storm clouds Jahf in a
pea-soup fog allowing Banshee to get close enough to unleash the full
fury of his sonic scream.
