Synopsis
Conan, on a mission from Narim-Bey, his commanding officer in
Aghrapur, is smuggled into Wan Tegri by a shepherd. The sky above the
city is covered in a reddish, harmless flame, and Conan’s job is to
assess if Wan Tengri is worth King Yildiz’s efforts to conquer. Upon his
arrival in he city, Conan steals a purse from a passerby, and is
surprised that the magical flame wind whispers to him to halt. The wind
also tells the guards where Conan is, and soon he is chased by several
soldiers. He shakes them and heads to Tsien Hui to cash in the gems he
has stolen. Unfortunately, the purse belonged to a wizard, who magically
teleports the gems away and replaces them with a viper. Frustrated,
Conan kills the viper just as the soldiers find him once again. He
escapes into Tsien Hui’s harem chamber and lingers a few moments with
the women there. A beautiful blonde explains that the only exit is
through a secret passage under the pool, and she takes Conan underwater.
True to her word, a cavern leads her and Conan out, but while they are
under, she reveals her true monstrous form, that of a tentacles sea
creature. She entangles Conan and stings him repeatedly with her suckers
until he finally frees his sword and slays her. Desperate for air,
Conan swims toward a light source and climbs out of a pool elsewhere on
the estate. He collapses in pain and exhaustion, not noticing the
slouching, shadowed form moving towards him.

Kassar (Earth-616)
Kassar was an hinterland sheep-herd who smuggled Conan
into the city for a few Turanian gold pieces, pulling his ox-cart
through the south gate, while the Cimmerian was hiding inside his pack
of wool.
Kassar was then found dead by Conan in the Flame Tower, at the mercy of the seven wizards.
Narim-Bey (Earth-616)
Garrison commander Narim-Bey asked Conan to go the westernmost Khitai city of Wan Tengri and find out if it was worth King Yildiz’s efforts to conquer.
As Conan returned to the capital, Narim-Bey left for a tour of the
troops at Akif. Back in the capital, suspecting a romantic affair
between the Cimmerian and Lady Amytis, he immediately took the
opportunity of the king’s newfound decision, after the attack of the
Hyrkanian golem, to become a recluse in his castle, to send Conan on a
mission to the north.
When the Cimmerian returned to Aghrapur, jealous of the Amytis’
betrayal, Narim-Bey decided to use black magic to curse Conan, but he
was eventually slain by Lilitu and her inhuman mate Ardat-Lili.
Amytis (Earth-616)
Amytis was Narim-Bey’s hot-blooded paramour, whom Conan greeted before leaving the capital for Wan Tengri.
When the Cimmerian returned to the city, she offered him the luxury of
her palace and, with Narim-Bey gone for a fortnight, engaged him in a
romantic affair.
After the party held in his honor for rescuing the Princess Yolinda,
Amytis visited the haunted Cimmerian and told him that Lilitu, a
were-woman, had marked Conan as her own and was behind the supernatural
attacks. The only one who could lift the curse was the high priest Gimil-Ishbi, who was dwelling in the Mound of the Moon
west of the city. As Conan left for the Mound of the Moon, she revealed
to her master that she’d rather see Conan dead, then risk his leaving
her one day.
Tsien Hui (Earth-616)
Tsien Hui was a dealer of stolen goods, but only if they were picked outside the gates of Wan Tengri. He was visited by Conan
who was trying to cash in the gems he had just stolen. Unfortunately,
the purse belonged to a wizard, who magically teleported the gems away
and replaced them with a viper. Frustrated, Conan killed the viper just
as the soldiers found him once again and Tsien Hui escaped.

Synopsis
Ka-Zar and Zabu are eager to return to the jungle after the threat to
the Super-Soldier Serum has passed, but are drawn into action again
when Victorius kidnaps Bobbi Morse, hoping to gain more information
about SHIELD’s duplicate of the Serum. With Nick Fury’s help, Ka-Zar is
able to follow Bobbi’s tracking device to AIM’s upstate fortress where
he plans to infiltrate alone. Fury gives Ka-Zar their Super-Soldier
Serum in case he needs the edge, but Ka-Zar throws the vial away outside
the fortress, confident in his own ability. Inside, Ka-Zar easily
defeats Plunderer and Gemini while making his way to the chamber where
Bobbi is held. He manages to down Victorius despite the villain’s
enhanced strength and extensive martial arts training. Once freed, Bobbi
is primarily concerned with finding the serum vial Ka-Zar threw away
before it lands in the wrong hands. Ka-Zar believes there’s no need to
worry, but doesn’t see the recovered Victorius lurking behind him.
