Cod. EA-O

Synopsis

On his way to go see his Aunt May in the hospital, Spider-Man is attempted to be apprehended by police, but manages to get away. Finding out which room his Aunt May is in and switching back to his civilian guise, he goes and visits her. When the doctor reminds him that he’s been a missing person for days, Peter goes to the police station. There he tells them that he was kidnapped by Spider-Man, who had amnesia and was tricked into being partners with Dr. Octopus, and that when he caught Peter taking pictures he took him hostage, and then later let him go when his memory returned (a partial truth of the real situation).

He is then reunited with Gwen and later meets with the rest of his friends.

They decide to go and check out a night club where Mary Jane has taken up a job as a go-go dancer.

However, the club is a criminal front where a Dr. Winkler’s brainwashing techniques are being utilized to further a criminal organization. They give Mary Jane a special camera that briefly puts people under their control so that they go in back and get brain washed.

When this is done to Captain George Stacy, Gwen begins to worry about her father when he doesn’t return from getting fresh air.

Peter, also finding it suspicious decides to go look for him — but as Spider-Man.

Spidey goes in back and catches Winkler in the process of brainwashing George Stacy.

Before Spider-Man can stop him, he’s grabbed by Winkler’s employer: The Kingpin.

Synopsis

Practicing his size changing abilities out in the country, Giant-Man is hit by an on coming airplane causing it to crash. He quickly saves the passenger before the plane does crash, but knocks himself out when he trips and smashes into a tree. The pilot turns out to be David Cannon, also known as Giant-Man’s long time foe the Human Top. Having survived the nuclear explosion in New Mexico (following the events in Tales to Astonish #59, in Italy in URC #43) by seeking refuge in a deep cave until the fall out subsided he was flying back to New York when he spotted Giant-Man. Considering smashing Giant-Man’s head in with a boulder, he decides not, wanting to come up with a more elaborate plan to destroy his long time foe, and so Cannon leaves Giant-Man to recover while he organizes his next plot.

Returning to his lab in the city, Giant-Man attempts to grow to 100 feet in height, however the strain proves to be too much for him to handle. Giant-Man then reveals to the Wasp that he fears that his constant size changing is having a hazardous effect on his health, and that he should stick to one height as Giant-Man: 35 Feet.

Meanwhile, the Top is sharpening his skills but soon gets fed-up with his bulky top inspired costume and designs a new one that utilizes helium to allow him to float in the air. He then begins his next plot against Giant-Man.

Giant-Man however is preoccupied with having his lab refitted to accommodate his 35 foot height. Afterwards, Giant-Man works on his equipment while the Wasp introduces her newly trained wasp: Boopsie. They are interrupted by a call from security downstairs who tell them that there is a reporter to see them. Showing the reporter around his new lab, Giant-Man soon realizes it was all a trick and the reporter is really the Human Top, who reveals himself and attacks the two heroes.

The Top manages to best Giant-Man with his new abilities and captures the Wasp and makes an escape. Growing to giant-size, Giant-Man pursues the Wasp’s kidnapper…

Synopsis

Giant-Man is chasing after the Human Top who has just captured the Wasp, however he soon loses his foe who has mastered the ability of flight with the help of his new costume. Once away from Giant-Man, the Top tries to get the Wasp to join his cause, explaining that her partner will be doomed once he stumbles upon the trap that he is preparing for him. Hoping to warn Giant-Man, the Wasp gives her wasp the command to tell Giant-Man where she is.

Back at his lab, Giant-Man is contacted by the Wasp’s wasp, and uses it to fly to the location of the Top’s hide out, however he manages to stumble into the Top’s trap, a giant pit that where the Top will freeze Giant-Man into a block of ice. When the Wasp refuses to join the Top, he throws her into the pit as well to be frozen to death along side her comrade.

Giant-Man instructs the Wasp to shrink in size and climb into his costume, just before he is sprayed with quick freezing water and encased in a sheet of ice. Believing his foes are dead, the Top has the Giant-Man ice state lifted out of the pit, but is surprised when a normal size Giant-Man and Wasp bust out of the ice. Giant-Man explains that he waited for the outer layer of water to freeze before shrinking to normal size to free himself.

After a brief battle with the Top, the Top is knocked into his own trap and is frozen as well, he is then pulled out and thawed out before being turned over to the police. After the Top has been arrested, Giant-Man explains that his constant growing has effected his health and that continuing to do so may lead to his death, and so decides that it is time to retire from being a super-hero.
