Synopsis

Three centuries in the future mankind knows peace and technological perfection, however one man is not happy with the state of the peaceful world. This man is the mad scientist known as Zarrko, who has built a time machine to travel into the past in the hopes of procuring humanities powerful atomic weapons so that he might use them to conquer his future.

In the present day, Thor has agreed to aid the US Military in missile tests, flying along with test missiles to review their efficiency. Hoping to test the effects of their new Cobalt bomb on human beings by studying how it effects Thor, the army has the Thunder God strapped to measuring devices and have him stand in close proximity of this new experimental bomb. However, the test does not go as planned, as Zarrko appears in his time machine and pilfers the device and escapes into the future before Thor can stop him.

Promising to recover the bomb, Thor summons his father Odin and asks how he might travel into the future. Odin guides him to using his hammer to time travel by tying a fragment of Zarrko’s craft (broken off in the brief battle between Thor and Zarrko) and spin his hammer faster than the speed of light and it’s magic will transport him to the future. The spell works and Thor is sent into the future year of 2262, where he finds that Zarrko has used the C-Bomb to take over the future Earth.

When Zarrko learns of Thor’s arrival in his time, he sends his newly established guards after Thor. Thor quickly finds someone from the future to act as a decoy, putting on a costume like Thor, while Thor dawns a black robe and the two storm Zarrko’s citadel. Inside, the fake Thor is captured lulling Zarrko into a false sense of security when he is suddenly ambushed by the real Thor. When Zarrko’s weapons fail he flees and sicks an army of robots against Thor, who grab his hammer. Using a water pipe to short circuit the robots, Thor manages to make them drop his hammer before the sixty second time limit would have him change back into Donald Blake.

Zarrko meanwhile has escape in a ship and is planning to drop the C-Bomb on the city, however Thor summons up a storm which causes Zarrko’s ship to fly erratically enough for Thor to recover the dropped bomb. When Zarrko’s ship crashes, the villain survives but has suffered amnesia and is taken into custody. Praised as a hero, Thor then returns to the present where he returns the C-Bomb back to the military.

Later, back in his guise of Donald Blake, Thor returns to his office where he finds Jane Foster marveling over the stories about Thor’s recent escapade.

Synopsis

Five scientists have apparently given up on the American way of life and have defected to Russia, causing the government to exercise grave concern. While in New York, Donald Blake decides to do something in his godly identity of Thor. As part of this plan, Blake travels to Washington D.C. where he meets Colonel Edwards Harrison of the US Army Intelligence and offers himself as bait for the Russians by reporting that he has come up with a new biological weapon. When asked why he wants to help, Blake makes up a story about how his lame leg prevented him from fighting in the Korean War and he wants to do something for his country to make up for it.

When the story about Blake’s “discovery” hits the newswire, a Russian agent posing as a photographer for National Magazine visits Blake’s office. As expected, the spy’s camera is rigged to spray a will sapping gas that puts Donald in a hypnotic trance. The spy then has Blake write a similar defection letter and flies him to Russia where he is put in a cell with the other “defected” scientists.

When left alone in his cell, Donald taps his cane changing into Thor and easily breaks out of his cell. The Russian soldiers have rigged the dungeon with various traps, which Thor easily bypasses. However, the Russians get Thor at a stalemate when their commanding officer threatens to activate a self-destruct device that would destroy the dungeon and everyone in it, including the captured American scientists.

Forced to relinquish his hammer and be shackled in “electronically treated” chains that even Thor apparently cannot break out of, the Russian soldiers leave Thor unattended figuring that he is no longer a threat. As the 60 second time limit that Thor can be away from his hammer runs out, he changes back into Donald Blake, who is lithe enough to limber out of the shackles and recover his hammer changing back into Thor.

The Thunder God then frees the captured American scientists and then gets the drop on his Russian captors and easily destroy their dungeon. Reverting back into Donald Blake, Thor joins the scientists as they smuggle themselves out of the country and are shipped back home to America. Later, Donald recounts the tale (while keeping his identity of Thor secret) to Jane, who once more moons over Thor, leaving Donald Blake to wonder if the woman he loved could ever love him as Donald Blake, and not Thor.

Synopsis

Following his defeat at the hands of Thor, Loki was sent back to Asgard where he was punished by Odin, who decreed that Loki would never be allowed to leave Asgard again. Still wishing to gain revenge on his cursed half-brother, Loki casts a spell to spy on Thor, and witnesses the Thunder God’s previous adventure where he saved five American scientists from Russian captivity. Loki witnesses Thor changing into Donald Blake, and now having learned his foes mortal guise has come up with an idea to defeat Thor once and for all.

In order to sneak out of Asgard, Loki transforms himself into a snake an slips past Heimdal and crosses the Bifrost Bridge to Earth. Taking on a human guise of an old man, Loki enters Donald Blake’s doctors office and hypnotizes Jane Foster and gives her secret commands and then enters Donald’s office. when Don reports for work, he finds Loki waiting for him and changes into Thor. Loki poses the Thunder God a challenge in Central Park, a challenge that Thor accepts before Loki leaves. Changing back into Donald Blake he tells Jane that he is leaving for the afternoon, unaware that Jane is about to enact Loki’s hypnotic suggestions upon his departure.

Arriving at Central Park as Thor, he begins to battle Loki unaware that Jane Foster (still under Loki’s thrall) is wandering in the area. Loki then transforms a tree into a tiger and sets it upon Jane, and turns the Thunder God’s attention to Jane’s situation. Thor has two options: grab his returning hammer, or save Jane. With no choice, Thor chooses the latter, and after dealing with the mystical tiger he revers back into Donald Blake because he has been away from his hammer for more than 60 seconds. When Donald attempts to recover his weapon, Loki puts a magical force field around it, preventing Blake from changing back into Thor. With his enemy apparently defeated, Loki transforms into a bird and flies away, planning to conquer the Earth.

Blake revives Jane and takes her back home while Loki uses his magics to terrorize the people of New York City, and make the counter attacking armies weapons useless. As this is happening, Blake comes up with a means of tricking Loki so that he can get his hammer back.

Planting a story in the papers stating that Thor promises to defeat Loki by the end of the week prompts the God of Mischief to check and see if Thor found a means to recover his hammer. To his surprise, he finds Thor (with hammer in hand) waiting for him at the location of the force field. Unable to see within the force field, the unbelieving Loki removes it to see if the hammer is truly gone. Suddenly, Donald Blake bursts out of the bushes and grabs the real hammer which was there all along. Changing back into Thor, he explains that he tricked Loki with nothing but a mannequin.

Loki attempts to escape by changing into a pigeon and hiding amongst a whole flock. However, with a bag of peanuts, Thor manages to cause all the real birds to break Loki’s cover. Trying to escape, Loki meets a humiliating defeat when Thor uses a tennis net to ensnare the escaping God. Forcing Loki to revert back to his human form and returns him to Asgard for punishment.

Synopsis

The first part in a series telling some of the ancient legends of Asgard, this premiere story explains the early origins of the home of the Gods and the birthplace of the mighty Thor.

It explains that the origins of these legends have their root from the Ancient Norsemen who crafted these tales. We are introduced to the Aesir (good gods) and their opponents the evil Frost Giants, and how they would wage battle in a realm bound by fire in the south and mist in the north.

At this world’s end, the legends state the demon of fire, Surtur sits planning the destruction of the Gods, while deep below them all is the Well of Life. Aeons ago, the realm of Asgard was a world of pure ice until the birth of Ymir the greatest of the Frost Giants, followed by a magical cow. Soon the first of the Asgardians would be born, Buri.

As time would go on, Buri would take a wife and have a son named Borr. Borr would also have children of his own, one of them growing to be the soon mighty Odin. It would be Odin who would eventually vanquish Ymir. Following the ice giants defeat, Odin and his brothers would plant Yggdrasill, the Life Tree and protect the Earth, preparing it for the coming of man.
