Synopsis

Continued from last issue…

Alicia, unaware of her stepfather’s motives, obeyed. Once the disguised Alicia and mesmerized Thing were inside the team’s headquarters, the Thing attacked the Torch and the team’s leader, Mister Fantastic. 

During the battle, Mister Fantastic succeeded in freeing the Thing from the Puppet Master’s control.

Mister Fantastic rescued the Invisible Girl, but the Puppet Master had used a puppet to force a prison warden to set free his prisoners. 

The Fantastic Four recaptured the prisoners, however.

Alicia, meanwhile, was distraught to learn of her stepfather’s criminal actions. 

When he came to her bearing a puppet of himself dressed as a king, and told her how, having successfully tested his power, he plans to rule entire nations, Alicia grabbed his arm, protesting that no one should have so much power. She slipped and fell, dropping the puppet, and the Puppet Master, trying to pick up the puppet, tripped over her and plunged from a window. 

Notes

• This issue denotes the first of many failed attempts by Reed Richards to revert the Thing back to Ben Grimm.

Synopsis

The Wizard, a famous inventor and escape artist, is finding his popularity is waning. With the Human Torch’s adventures making headlines, the Wizard blames the Torch for his loss in popularity and so plans to ruin the Torch’s reputation.

Planning a stunt which involves drilling deep into the Earth, the Wizard plans to get trapped in order to earn the Torch’s trust. Being “rescued” by the Torch, the Wizard invites the Torch to his state-of-the-art home. Trapping the Torch in a room and dousing him with water, the Wizard dawns a suit that allows him to mimic the Torch’s abilities and goes on a crime spree in order to ruin the Torch’s reputation.

Johnny manages to escape and when the Wizard gets home, he offers the Torch a challenge: Having taken pictures of himself putting on the suit that mimicked the Torch’s powers, the Wizard will fight him, one-on-one with no powers for the photos. However, when the Torch refuses to play the Wizards game. When the Torch is about to burn the pictures, they suddenly float out of the air and into the Torch’s hands.

With the evidence in hand, the Torch has the Wizard arrested after proving the Wizard’s guilty. After all is said and done, Johnny’s sister Sue turns visible, revealing that she was the cause of the pictures flying out of the Torch’s hand.

Nell’ episodio che segue i Fantastici 4 finiti sull’orlo della bancarotta cercano finanziatori e mecenati che li aiutino a pagare i debiti, ed ecco che subito si presenta il solito Sub-Mariner che forte del fatto che nuota non solo nell’acqua ma anche nell’oro si offre di aiutarli ma in realtà vuole fregarli e farsi la spasimata Donna Invisibile ma lei ancora una volta non gliela dà perchè non gli piacciono quelli sempre umidicci e con le mani sudate e quando i tre maschi alla fine lo sgamano al povero uomo pesce non resta che ritornare vergognosamente ad immergersi in profondità con la nerchia fra le gambe

Synopsis

When the Fantastic Four go bankrupt, the news spreads even as far as Atlantis, where Sub-Mariner finds the developments interesting. Facing eviction, the Fantastic Four receive a letter from S.M. Studios to come to Hollywood to make a movie based on their adventures.

Arriving in California, the FF are shocked to learn that S.M. Studios is owned by the Sub-Mariner, who tells them that the offer to make a movie is legitimate (although this is in reality yet another ploy to destroy the male members of the group and try to win Susan Storm’s heart.) 

Sub-Mariner sends each member of the FF out to fight a real threat under the notion that it’s all a movie. 

Reed must face the Cyclops of myth, while the Human Torch must fight a cannibal tribe and the Thing must face Namor alone. 

While Reed and Johnny are stranded, they escape from their dooms, and the Thing loses his match against the Sub-Mariner when he temporarily turns back to human form.

They return to the S.M. Studio office to find Sue fighting off Namor’s advances and force the monarch from the sea to stop. 

Defeated, Namor agrees to pay the Fantastic Four for their movie, and returns to the oceans. When the movie premieres it is an instant hit, and the FF make enough money to pay off their debts.

Notes

• Reed had originally purchased only the top five floors of the Baxter Building, which were resold to the Leland Baxter Paper Company at this time. The FF continued on as renters until Fantastic Four #244 (in Italy in F4 Star # 16) when Reed purchased the building outright.

Synopsis

When newly built houses in the area have been found to sink into their foundations, Reed Richards sends Johnny to go and investigate.

What Johnny stumbles upon is somebody from the 5th Dimension, who has been involved in these incidents.

When Johnny learns the truth he finds himself suddenly transported to the 5th Dimension.

In the 5th Dimension, Johnny is taken before Xemu a dictator who rules the dimension and plots to take over Earth, and that the area where the houses were being built is where they materialize when they travel to Earth’s dimension. Put in a wet prison to prevent his flame powers, Johnny is freed by Valeria who is the daughter of Phineas, who used to be the ruler before Xemu overthrew his rule.

With the help of the Human Torch the people of the 5th Dimension are able to overthrow Xemu and retake their realm. 

After Johnny returns home, where he has trouble focusing on his study because his thoughts keep on turning to Valeria.
