Synopsis
After Karen Page decides to quit and leave town, unable to deal with
Matt’s continued costumed adventuring as Daredevil, Matt accompanies
Foggy to the prison where Melvin Potter (aka the Gladiator) is being
held. Potter is claiming insanity and to try to get out of his prison
sentence and Nelson and Murdock have come to try to determine if Potter
is lying or not.
While the two are interviewing Potter, Karen prepares to leave
New York City. When allowing Potter to wear his old Gladiator costume
and hold his old weapons, he then reveals that he was faking the whole
episode and attempts to break out of the prison. However he is attacked
by Daredevil, and during the battle the Gladiators saw blades suddenly
dissolve. Making quick work of Gladiator, DD explains that expecting a
trick Nelson and Murdock had treated the saw blades with a chemical that
would make them dissolve after a certain period of use.
After defeating Gladiator, DD tries to call Karen, but finds that
she is not answering her phone, unaware that she has already left the
city.
Notes
- Karen Page quits the District Attorney’s Office and leaves Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson. The three had been co-workers since Daredevil #1.
She will return to visit New York (and Matt Murdock) occasionally.
However, she pursues her dream of being an actress in Hollywood for some
time. She becomes drug dependent and eventually returns to New York
(and Matt Murdock) in Daredevil #227 (in Italy in F4ST # 37).
- Matt Mudock will take a leave of absence next issue, and visit Karen Page in California.

Synopsis
When using the Enervation Intensifier
device in order to heal Happy Hogan of wounds inflicted upon him by the
Titanium Man, Iron Man accidentally transformed his friend and body
guard into a horrible creature dubbed “The Freak” which goes on a
rampage.
Iron Man has tracked the creature to a nearby power station where
the savage monster attacks the Golden Avenger, and manages to best him.
Escaping to Stark Industries, the Freak stumbles upon Senator Byrd
pressuring Pepper Potts to get Tony Stark to appear before a
Congressional hearing to reveal the secrets of the Iron Man armor for
the sake of national security. The Freak easily knocks out the Senator
and Pepper faints out of fright. The Freak then grabs the woman and
tries to escape, but is forced to leave empty handed when security and
Iron Man arrive to try and stop him.
Iron Man then chases after the Freak and tricks him into walking
into a maximum power burst of the Enervation Intensifier, however before
Iron Man can escape the Freak grabs hold of him exposing Iron Man’s
armor to the rays as well causing his armor to super heat and threatens
to kill Tony Stark inside…

Synopsis
The battle between Fury & Strucker continues, with the “Satan
Claw” electrifying the floor, until Fury manages to get it off
Strucker’s hand. But surrounded by HYDRA thugs, Fury dives into a pit of
water, and after not emerging for 5 minutes is presumed dead. Big
mistake– as Fury had used an oxygen pellet to wait out the thugs, then
raced ahead of Strucker. Minutes later, as HYDRA thugs enter the room,
they discover 2 Struckers! One of them is revealed to be wearing a mask,
panics, and winds up incinerated in an “Alpha-Particle Reactor Cube”.
The other orders Laura put aboard the Dyna-Soar, and he takes off from
Hydra Island, despite the imminent detonation of The Death Spore bomb.
Surprise– it’s Fury, who used Strucker’s “face-changing gizmo” to
disguise both himself and Strucker, to fool the guards. He also reveals
that when he left the Heli-Carrier, he brought the bomb WITH him, even
though at the time he didn’t know what it was. It detonates, and thanks
to the impenetrable dome, only Hydra Island and all within are wiped off
the face of the Earth!
