Synopsis
A group of gun-toting Hong Kong low lives disrupting the klash of kung-fu titans before it even begins. Shang escapes with Julia by the skin of their teeth.
Meanwhile, Leiko and Clive meet in a rain-swept London to discuss their stormy relationship and the latest developments. The action moves back to Hong Kong where Shang sets off to retrieve Smith’s documents, which to his utter dismay turn out not to be Smith’s at all. Disillusioned and disgusted by Smith’s duplicity, Shang rips up the documents and throws them into the bay. He swims to shore, dejected, for his final showdown with Cat.And it’s a beauty, one of the most finely choreographed fight scenes in comics, with smooth, cinematic story-telling which hit’s the reader with the intensity and fierceness of a nunchaku to the head.
Eventually Julia stops the fierce struggle be threatening to kill herself in a stark moment of true (melo)drama. She plunges a sharp blade into her shoulder which makes Shen Kuei come to his senses. He turns his back to Shang Chi, putting his life in his hands.
Instead of reaching for the abandoned knife, Shang reaches down to scratch the head of the stray cat, who has tagged along since the beginning of #38.
Shang boards a plane to return to London, contemplating the fight without pity and reaching a sobering conclusion:
“There is only one thought I may reach: The fight was unnecessary and meaningless…I would have lost.”
Quite an admission for a hero but old Shang was obviously not a traditional 4-colour hero by any stretch of the imagination.
He returns to London with his new pet, determined there will be a reckoning with Smith for his subterfuge and duplicity.

Synopsis
Once again fighting off an attack by members of the Cult of Kara-Kai, Iron Fist decides to once more try and clear his name with Joy Meachum, and so returns to the Meachum building to try to explain to her that her father was murdered by a mysterious Ninja. However, she still will not believe him, and her Uncle Ward has him attacked by his latest paid assassin: Batroc.
Batroc has an army of assassins to try and defeat Iron Fist, however Daniel is able to hold them at bay, and eventually defeat them all when the Ninja suddenly appears and aids him once more. After the fight is over, Daniel demands answers from the Ninja who silently teleports Danny to an alley way before disappearing once more. The Ninja appears in the Wing household where it grabs the book that Lee Wing uncovered, the Ninja suddenly transforms into Lee himself.

The Prowler does fight the White Tiger because he thinks Hector Ayala is guilty of killing a child in a South Bronx trainyard. The story’s cast features Spider-Man in a little flashback cameo.
