col passare del tempo, dopo svariati anni di più o meno onorata attività e molte migliaia di albi e storie a fumetti pubblicate, per i nuovi superdotati – sia buoni che cattivi – al debutto nella moltitudine di testate marvel (ma anche DC) di lungo, medio o breve corso, era ogni volta più difficile trovare un nome originale, perchè man mano che si andava avanti con la produzione erano sempre di più quelli già in uso, e diventava ancora più complicato trovarne uno che non fosse già condiviso o molto simile con quello di un altro eroe o criminale già creato in precedenza, un po’ come adesso trovare su internet un nick che non abbia nessuno, cosa ormai assai ardua mentre a fine anni novanta invece ti potevi scegliere tranquillamente come tuo user ID quello che ti pareva, mentre ora se ti va bene ti becchi una stringa alfanumerica dai venti caratteri in su, che per un fenomeno da carta stampata non è esattamente il massimo, e così bisognava lavorare molto di fantasia ed accontentarsi anche di quello che passava il convento, ovvero gli avanzi. Il villain Norton G. Fester, che in questo numero affronta la reprimenda congiunta di Spider-Man e Nottolone, non è affatto nuovo di trinca e nemmeno di primo pelo, dato che era comparso per la prima volta sull’ Uomo Ragno Corno 30, ma siccome aveva intuito che all’ epoca si era scelto o gli avevano appioppato un soprannome pietoso e ridicolo (Nooter / Il rapinatore), per il suo ritorno in questa storia aveva preteso di cambiarlo, e dunque gli venne apposto in sostituzione uno dei pochi appellativi residui ancora liberi e a disposizione, ossia quello di UOMO METEORA, che fa pure abbastanza schifo però è sempre meglio di Uomo Scoreggia
contiene inoltre : il siderurgicamente avanzato IRON MAN opposto in questo episodio al sediziosamente ritardato HULK (che poi invece è un clone cinese taroccato dal Mandarino, nella riproposta di una vecchia storia già pubblicata su DEVIL Corno 95 e 96, qui però monca di una pagina) e poi ancora lo stralunato ma sempre allupatissimo Jameson Junior nei panni anzi nei peli di MAN WOLF / L’UOMO LUPO (nel cui episodio anche stavolta non manca il cameo del solito invadente Spider-Man)

Synopsis
When returning home, Nighthawk finds that his apartment is being
robbed by the Looter, who steals a meteor fragment from Nighthawk’s
private safe before fleeing.
Reviewing his private library, Nighthawk
learns of the Looter’s past and of his previous battle with Spider-Man.
Coincidentally, as Nighthawk searches the city for the Looter, he
comes across Spider-Man, who is out trying to find the Scorpion. After
an accidental collision, Spider-Man agrees to help Nighthawk find the
Looter. As Nighthawk goes to the prison to learn how the Looter managed
to escape from jail, Spider-Man scours the city to find their quarry.
Nighthawk learns that Norton Fester was a model prisoner, until
one of his fellow inmates jeering about Fester being a loser caused him
to lose his temper, reactivating his super-strength and allowing him to
escape. Spider-Man, however, doesn’t find much more than a strange
religious cult that worships a man named Jeramiah in his searches.
However, the Looter gets the drop on him soon enough.
During Spider-Man’s fight with the Looter, the Looter manages to
get the best of him and escape, and the arriving Nighthawk saves
Spider-Man. Angered that the Looter got away, Spider-Man lashes out at
Nighthawk and calls him a coward, upon which Nighthawk strikes
Spider-Man. The two part on bad terms, and Spider-Man leaves to continue
his hunt for the Scorpion. While the two heroes depart, the cult’s
leader Jeramiah arrives to his followers and tell them that Spider-Man
is a symbol of modern-day evil that must be destroyed.
Notes
- The events in this issue happen between the events of Amazing Spider-Man #145 (in Italy in URC #185), during his hunt for the Scorpion.
- Nighthawk recounts how he survived a bomb blast in recently, referring to the events of Giant-Size Defenders #4 (in Italy in H&DC # 26-27).
- Richmond looks up news reports about the Looter, he finds record of his past battle with Spider-Man from Amazing Spider-Man #36 (in Italy in URC # 30).
- The shock that Spider-Man is “reeling from” in this story is the apparent return of Gwen Stacy in Amazing Spider-Man #144 (in Italy in URC #184). Gwen had been killed during a battle between Spider-Man and the Green Goblin in Amazing Spider-Man #121 (in Italy in URC #133). The woman in question is not the real Gwen Stacy, but a clone, as revealed in Amazing Spider-Man #148 (in Italy in URC #189).
- Spider-Man recognizes Nighthawk from a description that
Daredevil gave him. Daredevil first encountered Nighthawk while he was a
super-villain during the events of Daredevil #62 (in Italy in DEVC # 59). Daredevil more recently encountered Nighthawk (now a hero) in Giant-Size Defenders #3 (in Italy in H&DC # 20-21). Daredevil possibly told Spider-Man behind the scenes during their last encounter Marvel Team-Up #25 (in Italy in URC #164).

- This issue begins a three-part story arc featuring members of the Defenders individually teaming up with Spider-Man and the Human Torch.

Synopsis
Iron Man #9.
The Mandarin is in the United States and has sent a Hulk android to
kidnap Tony Stark and Janice Cord who are once more attempting their
merger deal.
When the meeting is attacked by the faux Hulk, who kidnaps
Janice, Tony changes into Iron Man.
Battling the fake Hulk across the city, Iron Man finally destroys
the behemoth by knocking him into a generator causing a huge explosion.
When the smoke clears, the severely damaged Hulk android’s true nature
is revealed and Janice is saved. Although the Mandarin had failed in
capturing Stark and Cord, he did succeed in something else entirely:
Having viewed the entire battle, he has deduced that Iron Man and Tony
Stark are one and the same.
