Synopsis
This story starts out with Loki berating his underlings, the Enchantress and the Executioner, for not defeating Thor, claiming that his plan was “perfect”. After he dismissed them, he went to talk to Odin, who was feeling troubled about his son Thor, who had fallen in love with a mortal, Jane Foster.
Loki’s advice to the Allfather was to go down to Midgard and “assert your authority in person”. This idea appealed to him so he instilled a little of the Odin Power into Loki, left him in charge of Asgard, and left for Earth.
Back on Earth, Dr. Blake sends his lovely nurse Jane Foster home, to rest up, because she is very tired after the encounter with the Enchantress and Executioner, in Thor #103. After she has left, Blake noticed that is too quiet, and decides to do a quick patrol of the city, for any more “telltale signs of danger”.
In Asgard, Loki is relishing in his new power and vowing that he will never give up Odin’s throne. In an effort to keep Odin from returning to Asgard, he uses his new power to free Odin’s two most fearsome enemies “they shall defeat Odin for me!”. He then released Skagg (Storm Giant), and Surtur the Fire Demon. As he does this the loyal Heimdall hears the incantations, but since he cannot and will not leave his post, guarding the Rainbow Bridge, he sends for Balder the Brave, to go to Earth and alert Odin.
Balder quickly reaches Earth and finds Thor, giving him the message about Odin. Thor realizes that the only reason for his visit is to see his mortal, alter-ego of Dr. Don Blake. Soon after entering his office, Thor enters through the window and alerts his father to the danger that Loki has set loose. “Then, at a gesture from the monarch of Asgard’s hand, the very fabric of time itself stands still, as the entire human race, under an irresistible spell is instantly transported to a dimension beyond the ken of the human mind!”
At the next moment, the foes that Loki summoned appear on Earth. Balder the Brave is the first to charge forth, on his winged steed, at the Frost Giant and makes quick work of the ten-ton club, with his Asgardian sword. Just as Thor is about to help him, a firebolt strikes his hammer, throwing him off balance, and out of the fight for a moment. At this point Odin steps in, “no longer can I remain merely a witness . . . “, and causes the seabed beneath the Frost Giant’s feet to become soft and he starts to sink, calling on Surtur for help.
Once Skagg is saved from sinking, Surtur moves to destroy the deserted Earth by melting the polar Ice caps, while Skagg creates a storm to distract the Heroes.
Thor begins the battle with Skagg while Odin, on his winged Battle Steed, places a protective barrier over the deserted city. Thor’s attack had weakened and stunned the Storm Giant, allowing the Father of Thor to use his magic of his “Shining Sword”, to drain the evil power from him. Even though Loki was trying to support Skagg from Asgard by replenishing his power, Odin was finally able to defeat him.
This effort weakened the Wise One, leaving Thor and Balder to take care of Surtur. Thor realizes that they “cannot reach him in time, [and] there are other ways to stop him!!” Since Surtur is an older immortal than Thor, and his hammer Mjolnir “might not prevail”, he takes his father’s magic sword, “it is older than all” and “only his son can wield it!” Using the Odinpower he draws Surtur away from the ice caps and Earth itself, towards a special asteroid made of “magnetic particles!“. This holds Surtur in a magnetic pull “which will last for ages to come!”
With the treats to Earth neutralized, Odin leaves for Asgard once again, biding Balder and Thor to join him for a well deserved rest. Thor declines, saying how Earth is his home now, and he shall remain there always. Once back in Asgard, Odin punishes the tricky Loki, sending him to “serve the trolls” until Odin sets him free. As this story ends, Odin narrates to himself, a foreboding of the future, that his son is the most worthy and brave in the universe, yet “his heart weakened by love!”

Synopsis
The weekly meeting of The Avengers, chaired by Thor and attended by Captain America, Iron Man, Giant-man and the Wasp, draws to a close. As the Wasp flirts with Giant-man, Thor comments that Giant-man is fortunate to be able to take the girl he loves with him. The Wasp attempts to question Thor about his love life, but is cut off by Giant-man who reminds her that no personal life questions are allowed.
As Thor leaves the meeting, he happens to see the Cobra hiding nearby and attempts to capture him. By the Cobra uses a cable to throw Thor off balance long enough to escape through a nearby window.
The window belongs to the evil scientist Calvin Zabo, who hearing the Cobra drinks the potion that converts him into Mr Hyde.
Following a brief battle, the two villains realize that they both hate Thor, and agree to work together to defeat the Thunder God.
Meanwhile Thor reaches his office, where he reverts to his human form as Dr Don Blake. His nurse, Jane Foster, tries to get Blake jealous by asking to leave early for a date. Fearing that she does not love him, Blake wishes her a good time. Jane leaves, convinced that since Blake did not take the bait, that he does not love her.
Mr Hyde demonstrates a Time Reversal Ray which displays a backwards “movie” of the actions of anyone shoot by the ray. He displays the Cobra battle with himself backwards. They plan to use the ray to follow Thor backwards to see where he comes from.
Blake, in his office, hears a news report that Mr Hyde is on the rampage, and as Thor goes after him. Hyde lures Thor to where the Cobra can shoot him with the Time Reversal Ray. They follow the “movie” backwards to where Thor emerges from Blake’s office.
Having lost Mr Hyde, Thor has returned to his office where as Blake he laments his hopeless love for Jane. Suddenly the Cobra and Mr Hyde burst through the window and seize Blake, demanding the location of Thor. At that moment Jane returns to the office, only to be seized by Hyde who threatens to harm her unless Blake summons Thor.
Blake tells them to get his walking stick out of a nearby cabinet and to tap it on the floor. It is a signal which all attract Thor. Turning their backs on Blake to watch out the window, Hyde taps the stick and Blake (unseen by them) reverts to Thor.
The villains split and try to escape in different directions. Thor follows the slower Hyde knowing that evidently he will lead him to the Cobra also. Escaping through an auto junkyard, Mr. Hyde leads Thor into a crowded Colosseum exhibiting a Heavy Machinery Show. Hyde believes the crowd will keep Thor from being able to use his magic hammer effectively. As they battle, unseen by Thor, the Cobra uses a huge mechanical arm to grab Thor’s hammer and lock it away from Thor.
With only 60 seconds before he reverts to his human form, Thor is attacked by both villains….
Trivia

Synopsis
In the last issue Thor had chased Mr. Hyde and the Cobra into a “Heavy Machine Show” that exhibited various heavy machines. Hyde had used one of which to grab Thor’s hammer. This issue picks up mere moments after last issues story where Thor’s 60 second time limit is rapidly running out. Causing a quick distraction, Thor manages to hide in the fleeing crowd of by standards just as he is forced to change back into Dr. Blake.
As police surround the show building, Blake attempts to retrieve his walking stick from the machine so that he may change back into Thor but is unable to do so. When Mr. Hyde threatens to attack the crowd if Thor doesn’t reappear, Blake offers to find Thor for them if they retrieve his walking stick from the machine for him.
When the Cobra fails to retrieve it, Mr. Hyde rips open the machine and gives Blake his cane. Blake then charges into the crowd again, and uses their fleeing panic for cover as he changes back into Thor.
During his battle against both the Cobra and Mr. Hyde, the police storm the building just as Thor has his foes on the ropes. Mr. Hyde manages to escape capture by changing back into his alter ego of Calvin Zarbo. After the Cobra is apprehended by the police, Thor goes searching for Mr. Hyde little knowing that Hyde (as Zarbo) is following him.
Zarbo changes back into his guise of Mr. Hyde and attacks Thor when he leasts expects it, knocking Thor’s hammer from his hand. Thor decides that he can defeat Mr. Hyde with his bare hands before the 60 second limit on his powers run out.
Thor takes advantage of Mr. Hyde’s temper in order to defeat him, and then turns him over to the police. Changing back to Donald Blake, Thor returns to his office to spend time with Jane Foster. Jane, storms out on Blake after hearing over the radio the story of how Blake “betrayed” Thor by “aiding” Mr. Hyde and the Cobra in finding Thor during their battle. Slamming the door behind her, Foster leaves Blake wondering about the price he paid in order to defeat his foes.
