Se qui da noi la definizione GLI ETERNI evoca irrimediabilmente entità immortali, inalienabili e incombenti quali Giorgio Napolitano, Silvio Berlusconi, Maurizio Costanzo, Pierferdinando Casini, Corrado Augias e Pippo Baudo, in america invece richiama una serie supereroistica a fumetti classica ed intramontabile ( ETERNALS in lingua originale ) che deve il suo successo non a scandali, processi, collusioni con mafia e malavita, crimini dal colletto bianco e bustarelle ma solamente e immensamente ai magnifici disegni dell’ indimenticabile re JACK KIRBY
Questa è la favolosa serie gigante Corno che ha fatto conoscere in Italia la superba saga SF-fantasy , e ne è rimasta l’ unica pubblicazione nostrana per decenni, fino al masterwork integrale uscito un paio d’anni fa e puff ! oggi già disperatamente e inesorabilmente esaurito
Tra l’ altro la collana ospita anche altro materiale eccellente anche poco o mai ristampato, un po’ per dimenticanza, un po’ per pigrizia, un po’ per ignoranza , un po’ per accidia, un po’ per impedimenti oggettivi : MACHINE-MAN , NOVA , 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY , OMEGA , GUARDIANS OF GALAXY , LUNAR alias MOON KNIGHT alias IL CAVALIERE DELLA LUNA, CYBERNUS / DEATHLOK the demolisher , 3-D MAN, addirittura c’è pure un episodio di X-Men di Claremont & Byrne sull’ ultimo numero, il 29.
IN QUESTO NUMERO :
come sostituto generico degli esauriti ETERNI di Kirby continua MISTER MACCHINA (Machine Man the living robot), spin off di 2001 odissea nello spazio , appena omologato e certificato con bollino blu
prosegue la formidabile saga fantastellare de I GUARDIANI DELLA GALASSIA tratta da Marvel Presents ( che stavolta tanto per gradire ci stupisce e delizia addirittura col racconto delle origini di FALCO STELLARE)
inoltre abbiamo due entusiasmanti new entries ovvero : DEATHLOK (ribattezzato e additato al debutto italiano come CYBERNUS, una storpiatura davvero infame, crudele e soprattutto immotivata per un povero robot bionico senza alcuna colpa salvo quella di essere un feroce, spietato ed implacabile assassino) e L’ UOMO 3-D un innovativo pupazzo fumettistico retrospettivo, al limite del pop-up e per giunta pure a colori, che se fate un piccolo sforzo e vi convincete un po’ da soli diventa addirittura tangibile e volendo lo potete pure menare, gli manca giusto solo il sonoro per bestemmiare e dire “AHIA”

Synopsis
In the near future, U.S. soldier Luther Manning is killed in action and his body is used as a subject for Project Alpha Mech headed by his commanding officer, Simon Ryker. Manning is transformed into a Deathlok cyborg with machinery replacing the destroyed left side of his face and missing right arm. The strategic part of his mind is preserved, but the cyborg is meant to be controlled solely by a computer programmed for perfect obedience. Manning’s original personality gradually reasserts itself, however, causing Deathlok to disobey orders and ultimately break out of Ryker’s facility and go AWOL.
Deathlok becomes a mercenary, seeking to earn enough to transfer his mind to a new human body. He takes an assassination job from mob boss Julian Biggs, taking out two men for reasons he doesn’t care to delve into. However when Deathlok goes to collect his payment, Biggs only laughs at him. The Demolisher attacks, but Biggs turns out to be a cyborg as well controlled remotely by a vengeful Ryker. Ryker mocks Deathlok, promising that he will never realize his goal to regain his humanity. At that moment, Ryker’s lover, Nina walks in on him and notices that he has made himself into a cyborg too, and Ryker coldly tells her that it’s the last thing she will ever learn.

Synopsis
Spaulding pulls an inhibitor device off of Machine Man’s head…
…so that he can go after Ten For, who was busy devastating Kragg’s forces. When Machine Man hears the army lumping Machine Man in with Ten For, though, he has a moment of doubt, and the ghost of his father is the only thing that keeps him going. Meanwhile, Ten For is wandering the streets of Central City.
So Machine Man demonstrates that he has the power of teleportation and eventually faces off against Ten For. Machine Man’s flamethrower is threatening to Ten For, but Ten For exploits Machine Man’s concern for humans by holding them hostage while he sends a signal to the rest of his robot space army.

Synopsis
Vance in his anger accidentally strikes Nikki with his psychokinesis and when he checks to see if he has hurt her, she kisses him and he over reacts, but before they can argue further, they are summoned to the bridge as they are under attack. The ship is enclosed in a force field which is dowsing the Captain America and all on board with increasing levels of lethal radiation.
Aleta announces that this attack is the opening move of a race called the Reavers of Arcturus. Before any more questions can be asked, her form is replaced with that of Starhawk. Starhawk mentions having faced the Arcturans before and is on his way to face them again, when he collapses in pain and then he seems to split into both Aleta and Starhawk, who both collapse. This is the first time that the others had seen them together, but not as it transpires, the first time from their point of view.
Yondu brings them to sick pay and uses some sort of mystical trance to get the origin of the two of them.
A baby is found by a mutated creature on an un named world during an attack by the Reavers of Arcturus. One of the Reavers called Ogord, finds this baby and returns it to his world to raise as his son along with his daughter Aleta. The baby becomes a young man called Stakar who along with his sort of sister Aleta investigate the ruins outside the capital. They find the temple of the Hawk God and that’s where this flashback ends.As the unconscious pair hold hands, the Arcturans board the Captain America ready for war whilst far away Ogord, Aleta’s father waits with Tara, Sita and John and plots his revenge.
Notes: Whilst rushed it’s a quality issue, ignoring the previous episode’s events it rushes back into the story of Starhawk & Aleta and some great space opera action.

Synopsis
In Cold War time, Skrulls, posing as communists, hijack an experimental US rocket. The pilot, Chuck Chandler, escapes the Skrulls but in the process the rocket is destroyed and Chuck is killed. His brother Hal, crippled by polio, observes the explosion, and finds that his glasses have been embedded with red and green images of his Chuck, “like something out of those 3-D movies from a few years back”.
