GLI ETERNI
EDITORIALE CORNO, 1979
Se qui da noi la definizione GLI ETERNI evoca irrimediabilmente entità immortali, inalienabili ed incombenti quali Giorgio Napolitano, Silvio Berlusconi, Licio Gelli, Daniele Piombi e Pippo Baudo, in america invece è una serie supereroistica a fumetti classica ed intramontabile ( ETERNALS in lingua originale ) che deve il suo successo e la sua popolarità non a scandali, processi , rumours di collusioni con mafia e malavita, presunti crimini dal colletto bianco e bustarelle ma solamente e immensamente ai magnifici disegni dell’ indimenticabile re JACK KIRBY
Questa è la favolosa serie gigante Corno che ha fatto conoscere in Italia la superba saga SF-fantasy , e ne è rimasta l’ unica pubblicazione nostrana per decenni, fino al masterwork integrale uscito un paio d’anni fa e puff ! oggi già disperatamente e inesorabilmente esaurito
Tra l’ altro la collana ospita anche altro materiale eccellente che nessuno si è mai sognato di ristampare, un pò per dimenticanza, un pò per pigrizia, un pò per ignoranza , un pò per accidia: MACHINE-MAN , NOVA , 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY , OMEGA , GUARDIANS OF GALAXY , LUNAR , CYBERNUS / DEATHLOCK , 3-D MAN, addirittura c’è pure un episodio di X-Men di Claremont & Byrne sull’ ultimo numero, il 29.
in questo numero : ETERNI – OMEGA (ormai rassegnato al dovere sempre e solo affrontare scarti e rimasugli di patetici supercriminali già sverginati da altri, come lo scalcinato e scarsamente fisionomista NITRO che lo ha erroneamente confuso con Capitan Marvel ovvero colui che aveva biecamente abusato di lui da giovane) – NOVA (di cui vengono pubblicati in anteprima i due episodi sequenziali in team-up con SPIDERMAN contro il fottutissimo Fotone, che saranno riproposti pochi mesi dopo su L’UOMO RAGNO CORNO n.242 )

“The Man Called Photon” / CHI E’ L’UOMO CHIAMATO FOTONE ?

Synopsis
When going to visit his uncle Ralph, Richard Rider is shocked to find
that his uncle has been murdered.
It is revealed that someone, dressed
in a costume calling themselves Photon killed his uncle before a number
of visitors could bid a transistorized nuclear device. Initially, the
hot headed Richard blames Peter Parker (on assignment for the Daily
Bugle) is the killer, however this is straightened out when it’s
revealed that Peter tried to stop Photon.
The possible killers are all visitors at Ralph Rider’s mansion
that day: Michael Lincoln, Rider’s embittered assistant; Franklin Risk a
strong-armed business man; Harry Daze who is has ties to AIM; and Jason
Dean who has ties with the Maggia crime family.
When Lincoln tries to flee, Richard stops him as Nova and gets
into a brief fight with Peter Parker who also went after him as
Spider-Man. After the fight, Nova takes Lincoln back to the mansion,
while Spider-Man changes back to Peter Parker.
When Photon attacks
again, Peter changes back to Spider-Man and helps Nova to try and stop
him. However, Photon manages to escape.
With all the suspects in one room, Detective Jason Steele
identifies all the suspects possible motivations for killing Ralph
Rider. After all is put out on the table someone puts out the lights,
when they are restored Dean, Risk, and Daze are missing, and the captain
tells Spider-Man and Nova that Manners the butler was killed before he
could reveal who the killer was.

Synopsis
This story continued from Nova #12….
Spider-Man and Nova are on the scene of a whodunnit: Ralph Rider
(the uncle of Richard Rider) has been murdered by someone named Photon,
and the three prime suspects have just disappeared. With Michael
Lincoln, Rider’s embittered and recently fired assistant in police
custody, Spider-Man and Nova fly off to try and find Franklin Risk (an
unscrupulous businessman), Harry Daze (A member of AIM), and Jason Dean
(A member of the Maggia.)
Meanwhile in China town, Harry Osborne and his bride to be Liz
Allan talk about their coming wedding, unaware that they are being
followed by a mysterious assailant.
The three men whom Spider-Man and Nova are looking for have
escaped and decided to work together to prophet from the collection of
Riders transistorized nuclear device. Daze calls in his associates at
AIM to help in a raid of Rider’s mansion to steal the device they all
seek. Nova and Spider-Man manage to track them down and attack.
The two heroes are overpowered, however, chained to an anchor and
dumped in the harbor to die.
However, the combined strength of
Spider-Man and Nova allow the two heroes to break free and continue
after the AIM soldiers who they deduce are going to the Rider home.
There the two heroes fight off the AIM forces, and Nova and
Spider-Man stop Photon when he takes Nova’s father hostage. Afterwards,
Detective Steele tells the two heroes that Ralph Rider left a clue to
the identity of Photon. Showing them a crime scene photo he points out
that Ralph (a fan of anagrams) had put his fingers on letters of
scattered calendar pages that were scattered on the scene. Unmasking
Photon, Steele’s deduction turns out to be true and Photon is revealed
to be Jason Dean.

Synopsis
While the Eternals are still joined in the Uni-Mind, the Deviants
launch a colossal missile at the Celestials.
Sprite, who wasn’t part of
the Uni-mind, seeks out the Forgotten One and sends him after the
missile.
The One Above All Celestial swaps the Deviant crew with some
shuttle astronauts who safely guide the missile back to Earth.
The
Forgotten One disarmed the missile, but the Celestials take an interest
in him.

Synopsis

Omega engages Nitro in battle, ending it by clamping a titanium tube over
him just before he explodes, causing him to shoot his atoms up into
the sky, but also causing the ceiling to collapse on Omega.

Synopsis
James-Michael collapses in fever due to his link to the buried Omega.
He recovers as Omega frees himself, allowing Richard Rory to go back to
worrying about the warning from the Foolkiller he received.
Meanwhile, a frustrated Omega is becoming more and more swayed by
the petty and heartless pursuits of humanity he’s witnessed in Hell’s
Kitchen.
