sogno americano offre una gamma di possibilità sterminate ed
inimmaginabili per riuscire ad affermarsi e sfondare nella vita,
infatti negli Stati Uniti chi non ha voglia di faticare può scegliere
tra tre alternative: fare il pornodivo, la rockstar, oppure il
super-eroe.

particolarmente dotato per quel che riguardava le dimensioni dell’
attrezzo nè per le sue prestazioni endurance, e soprattutto essendo
irrimediabilmente e scandalosamente stonato, Steve Rogers optò per la
terza soluzione, e si dedicò all’ attività di buffone mascherato,
indossando un bel costume tutto a stelle e strisce proprio come la

essendo mai stato un modello di continuità e assiduità , cominciò però
ben presto a prendersi delle lunghe pause di riposo e a rimanere spesso
e volentieri a casa in mutua adducendo le patologie più disparate e
insolite grazie a certificati medici compiacenti, mentre in realtà non
aveva nulla e stava benissimo, negli anni del dopoguerra marcò visita
addirittura per circa 15 anni consecutivi, finchè Stan Lee non lo trovò
indecorosamente ubriaco in un bar del bronx nell’ orario della visita
fiscale, e lo precettò costringendolo a tornare al lavoro. ma il lupo,
si sa, perde il pelo ma non il vizio, e così anche ultimamente ha
tirato indietro le sue chiappettine incartapecorite facendo finta di
essere morto, gli hanno anche fatto il funerale, ma tanto non ci crede
nessuno, si tratta invece certamente di una raffinata strategia di
tanatosi mimetica, cui ricorrono anche molti animali come l’ opossum,
il cinghiale, l’ insetto foglia o il serpente muso di porcello, insomma
è tutta una vile e diabolica scusa per non fare un bel nulla
nelle
edicole italiane il n.1 di CAP uscì il 23 Aprile 1973, ovvero alla
immediata vigilia della austerity, e già questa piccola ma non
trascurabile coincidenza avrebbe dovuto far toccare le palle a qualcuno
all’ interno della Corno. infatti anche qui da noi svernò parecchi anni
da vero e proprio mangiapane a tradimento, stipendiato senza fare un
cacchio, finchè non ha provveduto Brunetta a sistemarlo con il suo provvidenziale ed inesorabile decreto anti-fannulloni

nella storia principale di questo numero CAP ed il succube Falcon agiscono ai confini della legalità in team con gli sciroccatissimi X-MEN (o almeno una parte di essi, dato che il disastrato gruppo mutante è del tutto allo sbando, come visto nelle storie in cross-over di Avengers #110-Daredevil #99-Avengers #111-Incredible Hulk #172 in Italia rispettivamente su THC #110, DEVC #99, THC #111 e H&DIFC #42) contrastati dal sempre assai ligio ed inflessibile Nick Fury dello S.H.I.E.L.D. che disapprova il loro modus operandi un po’ troppo fuori dalle righe

Synopsis
Cap agree to throw in with the X-Men (which currently consists of only Professor X, Cyclops, and Marvel Girl. The Beast has left the group and all the others are missing).
Then SHIELD shows up to arrest Cap.
The X-Men help him escape…
…and then the Professor reveals that he suspects that the group responsible for the mutant disappearances and Cap’s reputation problems is the Secret Empire. The Professor suspects that the Beast’s girlfriend, Linda Donaldson, is actually a Secret Empire agent, so the heroes arrange a set-up where Cyclops attacks here, and Cap and the Falcon, dressed as bums, supposedly (but very nicely dressed bums), ‘rescue’ her.
In return, she hires them to do work for the Secret Empire…
…including stealing a gyroscope from the Brand corporation. For some reason, Steve and Sam decide to wear their super-hero costumes when stealing the gyroscope. It turns out that the factory boss Mr. Black, who lets Cap and the Falcon get away with the theft, is actually a Secret Empire agent, so this whole ruse is pointless.
Steve and Sam are brought to the Secret Empire’s lair, but since the Empire knows who they really are, they try to kill them. The two escape thanks to a mental warning by Xavier that the Falcon picks up on very easily.

Synopsis
Angry that other super-heroes get all the headlines, while he doesn’t get so much as a mention, Luke Cage decides that perhaps he should adopt a super-hero name to put him in the same field as Captain America and Spider-Man. That day Luke is approached by a gentleman named Orville Smythe, who claims to be an employee of Stark Industries who has come to hire him to test out the security in place at the Stark Industries building. Cage is instructed to try to break into Stark Industries and steal an experimental suit of armor built for deep-space exploration.
Luke agrees to the job and starts by breaking into Stark Industries. Luke is able to deal with most of the of the security in place until Iron Man enters and battles Luke one on one. During their fight, Luke learns from Iron Man that Orville Smythe is not an employee of Stark Industries. Realizing that he’s been tricked, Luke teams up with Iron Man in tracking down Orville, who has succeeded in stealing the armor and a ship to escape in. Chasing after Smythe in the ship, he confronts his foe. During the fight, Orville is accidentally kicked out of the ship and plummets to his death. After, Luke returns the ship to Stark Industries where he bids Iron Man farewell, and tells him to address him under his new name: Power Man.
Notes
- Series was previously called Hero for Hire, however with the adoption of the code-name Power Man, the title of the series had changed.
- The code-name “Power Man” has its origins in the term “Black Power”, Luke deciding to call himself that when Orville is surprised that he managed to break into his escape vehicle and Cage responds “Just chalk it up to Black Power, man!”
